When is the present perfect tense used?

The present perfect is used to describe an action that started in the past but has continued until the present.

They've been married for nearly Twenty years.
She has lived in London all her life.
I've seen that film before.
Have you ever been to Paris?
She has worked in that hospital for seven years.
I have lived in Alexandria since 2021.
She has been to the movies three times this week (= and the week isn't over yet.)
We have visited India several times.
I have just finished my work. (Very recent past.)
